Laboratory of Experimental Mineralogy and Crystal Growth

  • High temperature (up to 600oC), high pressure (up to 200 MPa) hydrothermal crystallization
  • Low temperature (up to 150oC), low pressure (up to 5 MPa) hydrothermal crystallization
  • Melt growth by the Bridgman-Stockbarger method (Crystalox).
  • Melt growth by the Chochralski method
  • Flux growth
  • Hot-pressing (Crystallox)
  • Furnaces of different type up to 1600oC
  • Crushing and classifying, grinding and polishing of materials

We use the CRYSTALOX Vacuum Hot Press utilises a 15 kW radio-frequency generator STANELKO running at 300-400 kHz to provide energy to heat gaphite dies. Temperature control is provided by an 810 EUROTERM three-term digital controler. Applied pressure is supplied by a manualy-operated rigid steel construction hidraulic press APEX. The die rests in a dauble glass-walled chamber water cuuled by a F&R COOLING water chiller. The chamber is capable of being evaquated to pressures of 1. 10-6 millibar by an EDUARDS “diffstak”.

  • The dimensions of the samples we can produced are: diam. 10-20 mm., hight 1-10 mm.
  • The temperature range is up to 1450oC with accuracy +/-0,5oC.
  • The pressure is up to 100 Mpa.
